‘Beowulf’ and other historic manuscripts available for free online


The British Library, famed for holding every book published in the UK over the past hundred years, has added digital copies of some of its older manuscripts. The works were digitized as part of an ongoing project to make fragile historical documents available to the public, and include a Leonardo Da Vinci notebook, the Harley Golden Gospels, and the oldest-known copy of Beowulf. All of the manuscripts are available through the British Library’s Digitsed Manuscript page, along with hundreds of other documents.
