BlackBerry founder hopes to achieve ‘Star Trek’ future with $100 million quantum tech fund


BlackBerry creator and ex-CEO Mike Lazaridis has been pursuing his interests in quantum technology since leaving the company formerly known as RIM last year, and he’s just unveiled the next step. Lazaridis, together with fellow RIM co-founder Doug Fregin, is starting a $ 100 million fund aimed at boosting quantum science breakthroughs with commercial potential. The fund is called Quantum Valley Investments, and follows Lazaridis’ launch of the Quantum-Nano Centre in Waterloo, Ontario.
