Rules of cyberwarfare remain unclear as hackers and governments clash


Cyberwarfare has become an increasingly serious threat and the subject of more and more political attention. But the rules of digital war — and details on what exactly has been happening — still haven’t been nailed down. Vanity Fair took a detailed look at the recent hackings and attacks that have put governments and civilian companies on edge. Outside of the obvious questions, like what exactly the Syrian Electronic Army is and wants, Vanity Fair finds that basic questions of conduct remain: should the US government be allowed to exploit bugs in Windows, and potential hurt Microsoft’s image in doing so?
