Out-of-context subway messages can be truly terrifying

If you live in a big city and commute via public transportation, particularly some form of subway, you’ve probably noticed the electronic signs that helpfully tell you about train delays and other crucial messages. Out of context, however, these messages can be truly abstract, absurdist, or even threatening.

The Twitter account BART_ebooks (a tribute to the dearly departed @horse_ebooks account) has been collecting some of the weirdest sentences that have flashed overhead in San Francisco’s dearly beloved subway over the past few weeks. Frequent travelers might be able to piece together the context of most of these messages, but that doesn’t make them any less bizarre.
