iPhone 6 approved for sale in China

Apple’s iPhone 6 has been approved for sales in China, according to Reuters. The company was issued a license by the country’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) after addressing a number of potential security risks pertaining to diagnostic tools and possible personal data leaks.

Reuters writes that MIIT conducted “rigorous security testing” on the iPhone 6, which industry analysts believe will be positively received given the nation’s growing interest in large-screen smartphones. IDC China’s Managing Director Kitty Fok attributes this in part to demand from China’s less developed cities where such devices often function as the primary form of digital communication and entertainment.
