Matt Damon confirms Jason Bourne will return in 2016

At an event earlier this week, Matt Damon finally confirmed that he’ll reprise the role of Jason Bourne in in 2016. Speaking to E! News at a party for Project Greenlight, Damon stated that he’ll be reuniting with director Paul Greengrass for the project, with the film hitting theaters the following year. According to the actor, “I just needed [Greengrass] to say yes.”

The seemingly unintended announcement confirms an earlier Deadline story that stated Universal Pictures was in talks with both Damon and Greengrass for a fifth installment to the Bourne saga. After 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatum, the third in the series overall, Greengrass walked away from the franchise. With Bourne’s quest to regain his memories complete, the character, the…

Matt Damon will reportedly return as Jason Bourne in 2016

Matt Damon is apparently set to return to the big screen as genetically engineered super agent Jason Bourne. Deadline reports that Universal Pictures is in talks with both Damon and director Paul Greengrass to produce a fifth movie based around the character created by author Robert Ludlum.

Greengrass and Damon worked together on the second and third Bourne movies — The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum — which tracked the character’s attempts to regain lost memories. Greengrass’ decision to step back behind the camera indicates a change of heart. In 2009, he walked away from production on a fourth Bourne movie over creative differences, and last year, the director said that he would not return to the franchise. With Bourne’s…

Fans of cult television series Lost were not the only ones affected by its ending. The New York Times’ Taffy Brodesser-Akner writes that showrunner Damon Lindelof spent years agonizing over the response the finale received. The article explores Lindelof’s personal history, drawing comparisons between the man and the characters he would later create. Brodesser-Akner also looks at Lindelof’s worries that The Leftovers may follow in the same path as Lost. “Where did I go wrong? What can I learn from Lost? How can this not happen again?” Lindelof tells The New York Times.

Damon Lindelof and Brad Bird unveil ‘Tomorrowland’ mystery box, announce mobile app

No recent Disney project has played up the aura of mystery more than Tomorrowland. A collaboration between director Brad Bird (The Incredibles) and Damon Lindelof (Lost, Star Trek Into Darkness), the 2014 release will feature George Clooney as an inventor involved with the creation of Tomorrowland itself. It was allegedly inspired by a mysterious box found in the Disney archives, labelled simply “1952.” Lindelof and Bird took the stage here at D23 to show off the mystery box and the magazines, sketches, and photographs contained within — and also announced a companion mobile app for those that weren’t in the audience.

The artifacts included a faked photograph of Walt Disney and Amelia Earhart (it was actually a doctored photograph of…

See Matt Damon rip the head off a robot in 15 minutes of behind-the-scenes ‘Elysium’ footage

Damon-elysium-bts-640_large

Neill Blomkamp’s ‘Elysium,’ a tale of sci-fi class warfare, won’t hit theatres for over a week, but you can already watch Matt Damon wrestle with robots, duke it out with baddies, and generally have a great time playing a disenfranchised dystopian worker having a very, very bad day. He’s all smiles after using his superhuman cyborg strength to bodily toss an assailant through the floor, and it’s pretty incredible to watch him nonchalantly run up to a camera with a shotgun and fire it point-blank into the lens. Watch all that and many more behind the scenes antics in the video below. Just be aware it takes a few minutes to pick up, and the video seems to pause abruptly at about three minutes in. You’ll want to skip past that.

Mrs. Webb: Comment-Land? There’s no such place.

Willy Wonka: Excuse me, dear lady, but…

Mrs. Webb: Mr. Wonka, I am a teacher of geography!

Willy Wonka: Oh, well, then you know all about it and what a terrible country it is. Nothing but desolate wastes and fierce beasts. And the poor little Internet Commenters were so small and helpless, they would get gobbled up right and left. A First!-doodle would eat ten of them for breakfast and think nothing of it. And so, I said, “Come and live with me in peace and safety, away from all the First!-doodles, and Troll-swogglers, and Pun-wangers, and rotten, Vermicious Knids.”
