Netflix’s second exclusive Marvel series, Jessica Jones, gets its lead actress

Netflix has four — count ’em — four exclusive Marvel series on the way, and while the Daredevil reboot is getting all the attention, Jessica Jones just locked down its female lead. According to Deadline, Krysten Ritter has secured the role of the titular superhero-turned-private eye.

Ritter has made several movies, including Confessions of a Shopaholic and What Happens in Vegas, but she’s better known for her television work. Breaking Bad fans will recognize her as Jane, Jessie’s girlfriend from season two, and she’s also starred in her own ABC show, Don’t Trust the B— in Apartment 23, which was canceled after two seasons.

Jessica Jones is the second of Netflix’s planned four series. It’ll follow Daredevil in 2015, and will join shows…

David P. L. Jones: Alibi Spirits

Philadelphia-based designer David P. L. Jones recently finished some brilliant new work on Alibi Spirits, spanning both spirits packaging and book design.

The literary influence of Agatha Christie on the packaging is seamlessly executed in this killer project, and the re-designed book covers solidify the tie-in. It’s enough to make anyone want to cozy up with a dark book and some well-packaged booze.

From David’s website:

Alibi is a distillery specializing in the production of artisan whiskies and liqueurs inspired by the work of Agatha Christie. Each product is based on a specific novel, and the characters, plot and location of that novel are what dictate the packaging, design, and corresponding limited edition book cover for each spirit. So as we say at Alibi, go ahead and raise a few spirits.

James Earl Jones doesn’t pay much attention to his voice

In an interview with The New York Times Magazine, James Earl Jones looks back on his roles in such movies as The Lion King, Dr. Strangelove, and, of course, Star Wars — roles made potent by his famously sonorous voice. The funny thing is that the actor doesn’t pay attention to it. As he told the Times, “You know, I don’t hear the voice you hear. I’m not party to the Darth Vader tone. All I’m doing is using the voice I have to try to be as clear as I can with the language I’m using.” The one time he did actively use the Darth voice was on a cross-country road trip. Apparently, when truck drivers who heard him on their CB radios, they really freaked out. Read the whole interview in the Times.

Director Duncan Jones reveals concept art for upcoming ‘World of Warcraft’ movie

It’s been almost a year since we heard that Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) would take the reigns as director for a movie based on the long-running Warcraft franchise. However, more details finally emerged over the weekend at this year’s BlizzCon event, including a first look at some concept art. As reported by Kotaku, scenes revealed include Draenor, home of the orcs, Ironforge, city of the Dwarves, and Stormwind, home of the Alliance. The images didn’t give away too much detail, but they definitely retain the colorful and almost cartoonish characteristics that World of Warcraft is know for.

Jones kept casting details under wraps, but he did talk in a broad way about what the plot will cover — it’ll focus on the conflict of…
