Steve Jobs’s childhood garage is being prepped for latest biopic

Steve Jobs’ childhood home in Los Altos, California — which became a historic site in 2013 — is opening up for cameras once again. Film crews began setting up shop there today to begin dressing the location in anticipation of shooting the latest film about Apple’s co-founder, reports CNET. The house and its garage served as Apple’s early and rather humble beginnings, and were depicted briefly in 2013’s film Jobs. In this case, it’s for the second, unrelated film, penned by Aaron Sorkin and based off Walter Isaacson’s authorized biography of the late technology pioneer. Some of the early adornments spotted in the garage include things like a Bob Dylan poster and an ad for a Braun coffeemaker.

Fujifilm’s latest mirrorless camera is for hardcore selfie fans

It’ll be a bit more challenging than your phone to mount on a stick, but Fujifilm’s new X-A2 could be the ultimate selfie camera nonetheless. Fujifilm has updated the entry-level model to its well-regarded X-series of interchangeable lens mirrorless cameras with a 175-degree flip screen, letting you see what you’re shooting when the lens is trained on your face.

The X-A2’s improved autofocus performance comes in handy here, too; when the screen is flipped up, the camera automatically turns on face and eye detection to ensure the clearest portraits possible. And a tweaked version of Fujifilm’s optically stabilized 16-50mm (24-76mm-equivalent) f/3.5-5.6 lens — bundled with the X-A2 for $ 549.95 — just might offer a wide enough perspective…

In the Field with Aether Apparel: Testing the premium outdoor brand’s latest gear in interior British Columbia’s remote ranges

In the Field with Aether Apparel

After a few flights, a couple hours in the car, a short jaunt in a helicopter and a ride in a steamy snowcat, we found ourselves overlooking British Columbia’s Selkirk Mountains, surrounded by untracked powder without a lodge or any mark of human……

Bob Odenkirk is amazing in the latest Better Call Saul trailer

Bob Odenkirk was born to play Saul Goodman in AMC’s Breaking Bad, but in the upcoming prequel series Better Call Saul he’s still James McGill. In the latest trailer, we get a closer look at just who James is: still every bit the venal, over-the-top character we knew and loved in the first series, but not quite the two-bit, bus bench lawyer he’s destined to become. He has a firm, and even if he seems corrupt, he hasn’t fallen completely to the dark side.

Here we also see veteran actor Michael McKean in a significant role, along with Jonathan Banks as the one and only Mike Ehrmantraut. Honestly, we can’t wait for this to finally premieres in two parts on February 8th and 9th.

Apple’s latest store display features iPad Smart Covers that open on their own

Apple appears to be employing magnets or otherwise real magic to lure shoppers into its Regent Street store in London. A new window display spotted there earlier today has a row of upright iPads with Smart Covers that open and close without human interaction, just in case you were unclear what the $ 39 accessory does.

Name your own price for Radiohead singer Thom Yorke’s latest single

Well, well, well, what do we have here? It looks like there’s one little present left under the Christmas tree, and if you’re a Radiohead fan you’ll likely be pleased. Lead singer Thom Yorke has posted a brand new single online, called “You Wouldn’t Like Me When I’m Angry,” and you can stream or download it right now for free, though you should really pay what you think the track is worth.

The song joins Yorke’s impressive collection of solo work, including his most recent album, Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes. But we wouldn’t blame you connected the track to Radiohead — indeed, the single evokes some of the group’s best work from 2007’s In Rainbows. Like that album, the single is available through a pay-what-you-wish model. According to R…

This artist sang with ghostly projections of herself for her latest music video

Just when we thought we’d seen every kind of music video around, out comes this wonderfully-conceived video for Portuguese pop artist Emmy Curl’s latest single, “Come Closer.” The video is the product of multiple different performances layered atop each other — all with practical effects.

Curl stands exposed against a dark, bare background as video of her singing the song is projected onto her face. Some of the performances simply contrast with each other, while others effectively layer a grid of purple patterns across her skin. The director tells Dezeen that they used UV paint to render the designs on her skin. It’s a brilliant concept, and it comes together with some precise choreography that keeps Curl in the same position as her…
