We’ve long been supporters of Sonos, watching their evolution over the past 10 years—we even teamed up with lighting designer Lindsey Adelman to create a one-off Soundalier during NYCxDESIGN week in 2012. That said, the HiFi audio-obsessed brand……

I was wrong about big phones.
Actually, a lot of people were wrong about big phones. When Samsung first came out with the Note in 2011, I wasn’t the only one who laughed at the idea of a 5.3-inch smartphone. But I was wrong. The Note sold in the tens of millions, and that lineup has become Samsung’s most premium set of smartphones. Not only did it accelerate Samsung’s run toward smartphone dominance, it spawned a legion of copycats. Even Apple, the company that once so adamantly declared 4…
This summer, Samsung and Swarovski formalized an agreement to collaborate on producing special edition accessories for the Korean company’s devices. It started with the Galaxy S5 and Gear Fit and, at IFA this week, it continued with a pair of grandiose new limited editions. The new Gear S Tizen smartwatch and the Galaxy Note 4 Android phablet will both come with exclusive silver and gold variations that are adorned with densely packed Swarovski crystals. The effect upon the eyes is searing,…
Samsung’s newest Note smartphone offers something you probably haven’t seen before: a display that curves over the one edge of the phone. The new phone is being announced today at an event in Berlin, and it’s appropriately being named the Galaxy Note Edge. The curved section of the display, which wraps over the phone’s right edge, appears to operate independently from the main area of the phone, giving users a persistent area from which they can launch apps or view information.

Samsung’s sent out invites for what it’s calling “Episode 2” of Unpacked, an event it plans to hold in three cities — Berlin, Beijing, and New York — simultaneously on September 3rd. The tagline is “Ready? Note the date!” a not-so-subtle hint at another installment in Samsung’s Galaxy Note line.
The Galaxy Note 3 was unveiled at IFA Berlin last year, with the Note 2 the year before. The same is expected for the Galaxy Note 4 at this press conference, which is going down on day one of this year’s IFA show. Samsung plans to stream the whole thing live on its YouTube channel.
Letters of Note: Correspondence across the ages that reveal the personal side of public figures and humanize great events
Not so long ago—in the age before Twitter, email and Facebook—people wrote out their feelings, gripes, grievances and praise on hotel notepads, scraps of paper and personal stationary, and then mailed them. While some might argue that the art of correspondence died with…
Tom Wheeler (pictured right) at his nomination.
There are few jobs in the US government with more power to help or harm the country’s tech landscape than the chairmanship of the Federal Communications Commission, the agency that ultimately decides how telecoms and cable companies go about their business. And Tom Wheeler starts his five-year stint at the helm of the FCC under a fair amount of scrutiny: a former lobbyist for both the cable and wireless industries, it’s easy to extrapolate that the President Obama-nominated venture capitalist might not have the best interest of consumers in mind.
But are the fears unfounded?
Provided as a fully coded HTML/CSS resource, this is a simple sticky note widget. It contains a date, a few colour options, a user’s profile image, edit/add icons, and a description.

We’ve already seen images of HTC’s rumored 5.9-inch One Max, but new photos from the Chinese social network Sina Weibo help put the enormous smartphone’s size in context. Pictured next to Samsung’s 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 3, the One Max looks even larger than its 5.9-inch screen would suggest. It was rumored that the One Max will have a 5.9-inch 1080p display, a large 3,300 mAh battery, a Snapdragon 800 processor, and 2GB of RAM, but it now looks as though those specs were incorrect. From benchmark results, it appears it’s running the same Snapdragon 600 (a less powerful chip than the 800) as the HTC One.
