If you’re a football fan, Microsoft wants to make an Xbox One integral to your gameday experience. A new version of the NFL app for Xbox One, coming out later this month, is how the company plans to do it.
It starts with videos. Lots of videos. The app is centered around NFL Now, the personalized highlight and analysis channel that’s tailored for your favorite teams and your fantasy leagues. Those who upgrade to a premium subscription will be able to stream classic games and other programming like documentaries and shows from the NFL Films “vault.”
That’s not all: if you have a cable subscription to NFL Network and NFL RedZone, you’ll be able to stream those on the console, and DirecTV Sunday Ticket subscribers will get full access…
It’s 90 minutes to game time in Foxboro, Massachusetts, and Troy Aikman’s not speaking to anyone.
Around him, a dozen or so crew members, assistants, and friends chatter as they finish last-minute preparations, making sure Gillette Stadium is ready for football. That means the last full day of iDEN service, for those still using phones running on the network, is Saturday. After that, iDEN devices won’t work — even to make 911 calls.
Last year ABC gave writer-director Joss Whedon the go-ahead to shoot a pilot for a television show set in The Avengers universe, and Deadline reports that the network has picked up the show to series. Entitled Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the show will focus on — to no surprise — a group of agents from the fictional global law-enforcement agency S.H.I.E.L.D. The show will star Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, a character that has appeared in several of Marvel’s films up until this point. The character of Agent Coulson died in The Avengers — or so it seemed — so it’s not exactly clear how Whedon and his team plan to get around that particular hurdle.
Long before the global box-office success of The Avengers, Whedon made his…
