Microsoft is running the same deal on Xbox Music as last year: a 12-month subscription for just $ 49.90. Edge of Tomorrow is shaping up to be one of the most thrilling films of the summer. It’s a sci-fi Groundhog Day that finds Tom Cruise in a mech suit battling off aliens, dying again and again only to find himself back where he started, free to train until — presumably — he’s capable enough to fend them off once and for all. We’ve already seen a few great trailers for the film, but now a number of new clips have been released showing Tom Cruise fighting off aliens and going through some intense and dangerous training.

T-Mobile to eliminate employer discounts starting tomorrow

T-Mobile announced today that the company will not offer employer rate plan discounts as of April 1st. This means T-Mobile customers that received discounted rate plans through their employers will see an increase in their monthly bills. But the company is giving something back: CEO John Legere writes in a blog post that customers who did receive those discounts will now receive $ 25 gift cards for every new device they purchase.

New York court strikes down Bloomberg’s ‘Taxi of Tomorrow’ plan

New York’s Supreme Court has ruled against Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s plan for a uniform “Taxi of Tomorrow.” As The Wall Street Journal reports, judges found that the Taxi and Limousine Commission didn’t have the authority to make taxi drivers switch to a specially designed version of Nissan’s NV200, which included sliding doors, electronics chargers, and odor-reducing fabric. Had the plan gone unchallenged, taxi fleets would have been required to start replacing retiring cabs with the new Nissans as of October 28th, with the ultimate goal of phasing out nearly all other designs by 2018.

President Obama is planning to take executive action against patent trolls, announcing a series of legal moves tomorrow to rein in some of the patent system’s current abuses, reports The Wall Street Journal. The president will reportedly instruct the Patent and Trademark Office to start work on a rule-making process that would require disclosure of the owner of a patent in addition to its inventor. The move is reportedly designed to give people more information in the case that they’re charged with patent infringement, like whether the company that’s suing them owns other related patents.
