Watch Kanye West perform his new track Wolves at SNL 40

Only days after debuting his new track “Wolves” at New York Fashion Week, Kanye West performed the song during Sunday night’s SNL 40 celebration, marking the first time he performed the track live. The stripped-down performance came after he laid flat on his back onstage to sing “Jesus Walks” and later his other new single “Only One.” Singer Sia and fellow Chicago rapper Vic Mensa joined him onstage during the song.

There was plenty of debate during and after the set as to whether or not the performance was inspired or just bizarre, especially as compared to the more straightforward acts of the night like Paul McCartney, Paul Simon, and even Miley Cyrus. Whatever the audience’s opinion, there was really nothing like it all night.

Fast-tracked ebola vaccine is now being tested in West Africa

In the immediate aftermath of the ebola outbreak in West Africa, several drug companies quickly began work on developing a vaccine for the deadly virus. Now, one of those vaccines is undergoing trials in Mali and, if testing goes as planned, it will be deployed in the hardest-hit West African nations in an effort to protect healthcare workers.

Mali has no known ebola cases, though shares a border with Guinea, the nation in which the outbreak began. According to The Guardian, three healthcare workers there have been given the experimental vaccine to test that it has no adverse effects. It’s reported that 37 more workers will receive the vaccine in the coming weeks before it can be used in ebola-stricken nations. The efficacy of the…

Kanye West: Apple bought Beats because Samsung worked with Jay Z

Kanye West spoke at a conference in Cannes this morning, and he used the opportunity to talk about Apple’s acquisition of Beats and the importance of companies connecting with culture at large. According to Adweek, West posed that Apple’s purchase never would have happened if Jay Z hadn’t struck a deal with Samsung last year to have his album debut on its phones. It was a controversial deal and a shrewd business move, but it gave Samsung a level of cool that’s generally hard to buy.

Chemical spill in West Virginia may have been 2,500 gallons larger than reported

The Freedom Industries chemical spill that poisoned tap water for some 300,000 residents in West Virginia might have been larger than previously reported. The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection released an update on Monday after Freedom Industries said 10,000 gallons of industrial chemicals leaked into the Elk River from its containment units. The chemical storage and processing company had previously said 7,500 gallons had escaped.

The spill was first reported on January 9th, after people living near the Elk River noticed a strange liquorice odor coming from the water. Initially only one chemical, 4-methylcyclohexane methanol, a foaming agent used to clean coal, was understood to have leaked from a storage tank. On…
